Eller så är det helt enkelt bara så att vi blivit gamla och trötta. Oavsett vilket så är jag mestadels (internet)frånvarande när hon är hemma. Därför kan email och annat bli liggande.

I have been having so much fun reading all your family traditions for the holidays, they are are so wonderful to read and really have me getting all excited. I promise that after my update Sunday I’ll post a bunch of Thanksgiving stuff, and will lay off the December holidays until Thanksgiving is over ;) Not all all that I want to rush it. I almost wish the whole season was longer.
The Ebelskiver above was totally inspired by HappyDoodleLand’s blog. When I saw that I just knew the kids and I had to give it a try. She has a link to a wonderful Youtube video that is really helpful too. For the first try I just used Light Bisquik mix and soy milk, mixed to a good consistency. They turned out soo good, and now I can’t wait to make a filled batch.
Oh and here are some photos of the studio. I tried to take pictures of all of it, but it was so overcast today. If it is sunny tomorrow I will try again.

| Reza is convinced there are "ghostess" living in her bedroom. She will go in there and come out running and screaming, which I think is funny. I just tell her ghosts are our friends and keep us company. Naps are becoming a thing of the past. She still has them from time to time but we're not pushing them on her like we used to. I would rather she skip her nap and sleep through the night than stay up and get to bed at jacked up hours. Great kid in pretty much every department except the sleeping department. BUST. When we were up at Averyboo, I noticed she had more interest in engaging with the adults than with the other kids. In particular she really liked Natalie's grandmother. Something in Reza really is endeared to Seniors, maybe because they're receptive to children. Either way it is really adorable to watch. She got busted in school last week for spoon feeding the other kids with her spoon. Ironically she got a cold right after that. *rolls eyes* Apparently she has also made a little clique with a couple of the other kids and they barter and swap their lunches to one another. One girl who wasn't part of the group asked her for some of her dino nuggets and she told her no. Heh. She has really developed her own sense of humor as of late. She laughs at things on her own accord. The things that crack her up the most these days is Clank the goofy fairy in the Tinkerbell movie and when Woody gets electrocuted in the Toy Story 3 trailer. She loves the pain of others. things she says: Scooby Doo = Scooby Doobie Snow White = Snowy White UP = the balloon movie The other day we were in the car, our convo went like this: "why you being a buster?" "No, I no buster, I'm happy" "Why are you happy?" "I'm happy, happy to see you" *melt* | |

190/365 - Tonight was a good night.
p.s I think Cole wants to live with me.

191/365 - Gotta love how it took me practically a hour to convince my family to take a portrait with me, and my mom was the least willing saying she didn't feel like it at all but then in the end she was hopping around and dancing like a maniac! That's my family y'all.

Baby steps. Jag skulle behöva antiloopsteg. | |

| i checked my grades for the first time ever; i never had grades before! no not in undergrad and not at brown! i have all As. ahahahahaaaaa.
getting grades is really strange. at this point i don't understand why grades matter. for one class, the writing center pedagogy class we all had to take last fall, i wasn't sure, cause some people had been docked points for piddling stupid things; we had to write a dumb paper for the witch professor, and i just took mine and ripped it into tiny pieces and threw it in the trashcan at the bus stop when i got it back, so i didn't know really, but i got an A in that too; whatever. now no one even has to work in the writing center unless they want to, which is much more humane, cause that was a terrible thing about last year. this year is much better. i have lots of time to watch tv and make apple cider and write about watching tv.

| this is some of the other stuff on my christmas crafts to-do list: 3D snowflakes to hang in the windows, maybe from the ceiling in certain spots: directions [here] to put either on the piano, or on the wall where the diningroom table will be. [it's just mini christmas lights poking through canvas.] michaels has alot of their large canvases on sale for 40% off right now, so it's fate! paper stacking trees [though in much different paper]: kind of wish i could do them out of fabric instead, but i don't have any fabric to do such a thing! =( spray painted [probably silver, since that's all i have] branches to hang leftover ornaments: at michaels, in their 1$ bins, they have these chipboard/cardboard/something albums in different shapes [christmas trees, gingerbread men, snowmen, ornaments, mittens]. i removed the rings that bound the 5 pieces together, spray painted one side silver, and the other side i'll attach scrapbook paper or more paper i've printed on and these will make up the majority of our tree ornaments. [you can buy some of them elsewhere, but they range from 4-7$ an album instead of a dollar.] some of the album pieces: [you can see in the bottom shot some of the printed paper i'll be using.] and these are my favorites as far as the scrapbook papers i'm waiting on: and that should give you an idea of how much i will not be matchy-matchy this year. honestly, it does make my insides squirm a little, but at the same time, i love those papers so much it doesn't matter as much as it normally would. [plus, i'll probably spend hours pissing everyone off by arranging and re-arranging ornaments so that they are near like colors. however, this is something i do every year regardless (just not usually because of color) so everyone is used to it. sort of.] And i have these to play with: Some of those used to be ornaments i made a loooooong time ago, but they are too small for our now large tree, and just got lost on it, so i took them apart. I might end up hanging them from the branches, make small bead garlands for other spots around the house, or.... i dunno, haven't figured it out yet. Lastly, i was thinking of getting a foam mounted print of this: It's a shot i took forever ago. Triple exposure with an old argus brick i [obviously] could not get the hang of advancing manually. And if i'm not mistaken, this a shot of the one and only real tree bri and i have ever gotten for christmas. [We jumped the gun, bought it too early, it died, we literally had to shovel all the dead bits out the window, and we went broke having to buy a fake one to replace it, just because it was the first time both our families were coming over for christmas and we just couldn't NOT have a tree. Good times.] Not sure though. If i do get it, it'll probably end up being the most expensive thing we've bought for christmas. And to finish, this is something I wanted to do but won't be able to: That would have required buying doilies [would get expensive] or making bri make them, which she doesn't have the time for. Maybe another year. Sorry for the image heavy post. I'm not excited. Or nuts. No, not at all. | |

| http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CakeMakerToTheStars/~3/jb64nI7MkS0/no-ethics-in-my-futomaki.html This futomaki was lunch just now. Not traditional, maybe not even ethical, but quick, nutritious and tasty--I just licked my plate. Oh, not to mention it was all gluten-free ta-boot. Sushi doesn't have to take hours, this took me about 12 minutes to whip up from start to finish with leftovers and a few pantry staples, and I couldn't even be bothered to find my rolling mat. RiceFirst, I had leftover brown jasmine rice in the fridge. I heated it up in a sauce pan with a tiny bit of water, a good shake of rice vinegar, a shake of salt and a short squirt of agave. When it was hot and had absorbed the liquids, I set it aside. FillingsI was lucky enough to have fresh shiitake in the fridge and a few other bits of odd produce: tat soi from yesterday's market, an old but eternally young baby zucchini, avocado, and packaged teriyaki baked tofu. The zucchini, avocado, and tofu were cut into long slivers. The shiitake were thickly sliced and cooked over high heat with a bit of wheat free tamari and a splash of toasted sesame oil until they released liquid and browned in spots. The tat soi was quickly steamed with a splash of rice vinegar, a dash of tamari and a tiny bit of agave. StaplesI try to keep organic nori seaweed, wheat-free tamari and saccharin-free pickled ginger (fake sugar is the worst) on hand for sushi opportunities. I simply pressed a layer of rice over most of a sheet of pre-toasted nori, then layed out all the fillings and rolled as tightly as possible. If you don't have any wasabi laying around (I didn't), a little squirt of chili paste in some soy sauce is a nice combo for dipping. If you have leftover sweet potato, or carrots, those would be great in here too. xo kittee | |

| http://veganmenu.blogspot.com/2009/11/raw-food-wednesday-apple-medallions.html Raw Food Wednesday 11/04 Apple Medallions with Fennel and Sage Stuffing A very tasty Raw Thanksgiving dish, using seasonal ingredients, that can be made ahead of time. Apple Medallions with Fennel and Sage Stuffing (serves 2) 2 Gala Apples The apples were peeled*, cored and cut into 3/4" thick rounds and then cut again with a round cookie cutter (so they'd all be the same diameter). Depending on how big the apples were to start, you could get 2 or 3 slices per apple. * the apple peels were used for garnish -- tossed with 1 tsp. olive oil and 1 tsp. nama shoyu and dehydrated at 105F until they were crisp. Spice Mix1 tsp. sage 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. allspice 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. fennel seed The spice were all ground fresh using a mortar and pestle, and then put on a flat plate where the apples medallions were rolled around until they were well coated. At this point, the apples were put in a vacuum-sealer bag and compressed. They went into the fridge for 24 hours (but at least six hours will work). Fennel and Sage Stuffing2 tbs. red onion, small dice 1/2 cup fennel, small dice 1/4 cup celery, small dice 1/4 cup carrot, small dice 1/4 cup mushroom, small dice 2 tsp. sage 1 tsp. thyme 1/2 tsp. fennel seed 1/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. pumpkin seeds 1 tsp. nama shoyu 2 tsp. olive oil While the apples are in the fridge, make the stuffing. In a large bowl, put in the diced veggies, add the fresh ground spices (grind the pumpkin seeds with the spices) and toss them all together with the olive oil and nama shoyu. Place the stuffing in the dehydrator at 105F for about 2 hours, tossing occasionally (you might need two sheets). Assembly Remove the apple medallions from the vacuum-sealed bag, lay flat on a plate and stuff with the dehydrated filling -- we found that using the bottom end of a chopstick to tamp the filling down works pretty well. Place the stuffed apple medallions back in the dehydrator (at 105F) for at least two hours. Plating A layer of the fennel and sage stuffing was put down the center of the plate, with the apple medallions overlapping. The dish was topped with fennel fronds and the crisp apple peels. The whole plate was put into the dehydrator until it was time to eat, so it was warm at the table. Now, you've read this far down, and you want to know: how did it taste? ;) It tasted like... Thanksgiving. The stuffing/spices hit all the right notes, the texture of the apples was very different, chewy, yet it retained moisture. Easily, this is my favorite raw dish of the year! | inspired by this post. you'd never guess: 1. i very often think things are computer generated or just plain fake. this annoys my boyfriend and best friend a lot because i take the fun out of movies/commercials/etc ALL the time. 2. i have terrible OCD sometimes, to the point where i can't control it. you'd think my room would be spotless, right? wrong. 3. i don't think it's important to have a ton of acquaintances. i don't like surface relationships. 4. i love 13 going on 30 & mean girls. i absolutely hate natalie portman. 5. i have more pet peeves than anybody i know. i hate when people don't know how to spell a word but instead of looking it up, write it how they think it may be spelled. over cooked pasta, bad customer service, when people are in work positions that they obviously shouldn't be in, all olive garden commercials, when people don't appreciate things they have. 6. i'm very sarcastic, love dry humor and hate my laugh. 7. i have tinnitus so i have a hard time falling asleep with no music or the television on. 8. i watch the home shopping network more than normal even though more than half of the items they are selling are ridiculous. 9. jared says that i am a "black belt" at "that's what she said". i just can't help myself. 10. the thought of being a mother scares me to death. (i'm not pregnant!) other things that scare me/i work myself up about: the dark, drowning, my house catching on fire, running over animals. 11. i have no emotional attachment to my father. 12. i always sing in the car even though i think i sound horrible. 13. every day i mentally beat myself up for not doing enough. | |

| I got the itch to bake today and well, I baked. msfiend posted a link to this recipe and not only did it look simple but it sounded tasty and well, this is the end result
banana cupcakes with honey-cinnamon butter creamI made them in mini version though cause with baking comes giving and well, I like to spread the love. Overall they're pretty good, not decadent though. My only improvisations were I used a banana chip on top instead of fresh banana cause those go brown and slimy too quick... and I reduced the honey amount in the frosting so it wasn't so sweet and overbearing. If you plan on making them, they taste better with fresh banana on top but if you plan on having them out for a while, fresh doesn't stay fresh very long. Food porn aside.... I have been posting but a tad more on the friends only side, not much but if you wonder why I have been on the quieter side, I haven't left you LJ. I just got the link to the finished photo album from the wedding I helped Ted shoot in October. They look really good! The combination of perspectives worked really well together. I think the couple is gonna be really happy with them. I definitely made out with a couple of portfolio pieces and the whole process was a really good learning experience. As someone who has no professional wedding photos, I wanted to make sure they got as much as possible. I am not going to be sharing the link to these though, because they belong to the client but I will share one of my favorite shots. When things come off the camera with near perfect lighting and it needs little to no processing? Magic I say. My job here is done.
I also heard that another one of my drawings sold today. The stump and the mantis are going to good homes. 2 down, 8 to go. :) Speaking of, I need to edit the photos from that night...

| so.
lately i haven't been that hot on Lady G because i kinda felt like her schtick was getting played out and transparent...
HOWEVER
i gotta say this video is FUCKING BRILLIANT
i need to start making more performance outfits like this!! not to mention the makeup work is fucking SPECTACULAR. they made her look amazing in EVERY. SHOT.
speaking of...i'm doing makeup for a lookbook shoot this weekend. 8:30am call time, 10 models, 47 outfits. whew!
also doing some sort of thing with Stormy Leather this weekend at a new club...should be interesting!

MunnyWorld
Custom Toy Exhibit
3 days only
Nov 13th-15th 12-7pm
Eloquent Delinquents Gallery
41 Wooster St. New York, NY
Kidrobot hosts MUNNYWORLD, the year’s largest custom vinyl extravaganza, showcasing talents of over 60 artists, including FIVE winners of the MUNNYWORLD Custom Contest and Kidrobot artists including 64 Colors, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Bukubuku, Chuckboy, Coolvader, Frank Kozik, Huck Gee, KRONK, MAD, SEEN, and more.
I know its hard to tell from the photos, but this is the big Mega Munny–which is 18 inches tall, the size of a small child. It took forever and so many layers of shellac for me to do the sprinkles. In some respects I wish I left it all sprinkles only because I liked the simple look of it, you can see photos of it in that stage here. Alas, I wish I took better finished photos, but it was so big and I was trying to get it out by the deadline :)

I am super proud to announce a giveaway of my new woodland kits. I cannot even describe how fun it was for me to make these, design all the packaging, and then assemble them. I am going to be adding them to the shop on the Nov 15th update, and will also be bringing them with me to the two holidays shows I am doing.
Each kit contains almost everything you need to make four hand sewn plush. You’ll just need scissors, glue, and needles/pins. They are small enough to turn into ornaments for the tree, but non-Christmas-y enough to use for all sorts of other things. Plus all the felt included is eco-spun recycled polyester which means this kit is great for vegan too-no animal fibers.
The pattern pieces are on a separate sheet of paper and ready to be cut out and used. No photocopying or enlarging needed. Plus even once you run out of materials you can your felt you have on hand to make more. I’m kind of thinking a whole mini tree filled with the cheery gnomes would be pretty fun.
I am going to giveaway two of the kits on Saturday the day before my big update. All you need to do to enter is: Just leave me a comment on this blog entry telling me one of your favorite holiday traditions.. Just please remember to leave the comment on the blog, not any blog feeds (like Livejournal) because I do not get those comments. All comments must be posted by Saturday 10am EST.
On Saturday I will use the random number generator to pick two winners, and you will each receive one kit.

Oh, my... so, so, good. This cookbook is shaping up as something special. As an accompaniment, we made roasted sweet potato fries. They were cut into wedges, tossed with olive oil, salt, pepper and smoked paprika, alder-smoked for 25 minutes, and finally baked at 425F for 30 minutes. We may have finally figured out the way to get the kids to eat sweet potatoes. ;) This is a test recipe for Isa Chandra Moskowitz's next cookbook. As part of the testing agreement, we can't give out the recipe.

| http://veganmenu.blogspot.com/2009/10/grilled-tofu-farro-braised-chard.html Dinner 10/28 Grilled Tofu Farro Braised Chard Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Pears A little bit of this, a little of that... Farro is an underrated grain, with a nutty flavor and barley-like texture, it does a great job of absorbing the extra marinade (1/4 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup tamari, 2 cloves of garlic smashed, 1 tbs. agave, 1 tbs. ketchup and pepper to taste) from the grilled tofu. The diced chard stems were wok-fried in 1 tsp. of olive oil on low heat for 3-4 minutes, and then the rough chopped leaves were added, with salt and pepper and tossed for a few minutes. Put the lid on and don't even look at at it for 5-6 minutes. Toss again, add a splash of tamari, put the lid back on for another 3-4 minutes. Remove the lid, check for seasoning, serve hot. The Brussels sprouts and pears were tossed with 1 tbs. of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste and roasted for 20 minutes at 450F. | |
