the break-up
22nd-Feb-2009 01:59 pm

I could write something deep and poetic about my (online) absence but no, it just felt good to not check my emails, un-install my msn and pretend like the internet never was.
I did update my swedish blog but that's because I can't keep my mouth shut about politics, media etc. it doesn't count as online activity, it's like breathing really. ranting in swedish means I don't have to think, just blabber on.

then I realized that not checking your email means there's a XXXX to be deleted once you do. so, me and the internet are on again.
for now.

oooh! you look like a gorgeous little flapper in that photo!!
everyone is cheating on LJ with Facebook, so it's quiet around this town.

I use Facebook mostly for keeping up with my cousin's neighbor and my old cat's new dog, but other than that, I don't really get it. I don't think it's user-friendly, it's stalker-friendly.

the same goes for Myspace, I use it to keep tabs on bands and such.

Livejournal has a different purpose. it's like an online café where you see old friends and chat about what's been happening lately

Facebook is stalker friendly if you allow a stalker onto your friends list, for sure. Otherwise it can be locked up like LJ. I am denying a lot of people. Friend collecting is dangerous. I do get a little upset about certain LJ people adding me there... not the ones that I have known for years, but i can think of someone who I don't know IRL, only on LJ, lives in NYC & I will TOTALLY drop them off the list when i move home... LJ is REALLY stalker friendly to those that invite stalkers in, too. I know someone that has engaged contact with 3 stalkers here on LJ. scary stuff. I think that they're ALL equally as dangerous as you allow them to be.

sure, but everybody is on Facebook. a lot of people don't seem to realize that it's more personal and more private.

plus, no other community hit it big (in Sweden) like Facebook did. my neighbor has one, my old teacher has one and my mother in law has one.

yeah, EVERYBODY is on Facebook! and in a small community it has the potential for disaster. if you don't add them back, you're perceived as a bitch. well... }}}}sigh{{{{

I have all these people in the Irish community adding me, and I'm just not saying yes. too close for comfort. and strangers in NYC, i don't want them & I don't need new virtual friends. I can afford to be a bitch in NYC, seriously, but not in a small city like this. luckily I'm GONE soon.

Well, I'll just say "Hi" as you whip past the internet and back into the warm embrace of real life.
